ATC Training Course on Sensitive Journalism and Methods of Restoring National Unity, Sana’a Governorate. (August, 2020).
The Alternate Tracts Consulting for Development and Economic Consulting held a training course on “Sensitive Journalism and Methods of Restoring National Unity”, within the framework of the Yemen Information Center Project for Research and Media.
The training course was attended by the Vice President of the Foundation, Engineer / Abdulwahab Al Akil, the Vice President for Programs and Studies, Dr. Ahlam Al-Qubati, the Editor-in-Chief of “Sawt Al-Amal” newspaper, Mr. Abdulaziz Awadah, members of the editorial board of the newspaper, and the administrative staff of the Foundation.
The training course included the concept of sensitive journalism, the concept of new media and the difference between it and classic media. The course also illustrated realistic examples of the relationship of the digital media with the Yemeni crisis. The trainer, Dr. Saleh Hamid, during the training course reviewed the journalist’s approach for humanitarian or sensitive journalism during the process of searching for information, investigating events, and media coverage in the midst of conflict with a neutral ideology.
The trainer also explained the naming of the stereotypes, and the media outlet methods in substituting the material or the characters and what “positive or negative” stereotypes you can leave on the public. He also explained the difference between the stereotype and mental image.
