Sana'a: A Training Session on “Art of Writing in Journalism” at Yemen Information Center

On the 8th of June 2021, the Yemen Information Center for Studies, Research and Media (YIC) concluded a session on art of writing in the journalistic work with the trainer Dr. Muhammad Hadi Akhrash.

This session, in which the directors of the center's departments, the media department staff, and the press participated, is part of the center's research and media activities, which aim to train and qualify the center's staff and raise their scientific and professional level.

The participants in the session received general concepts about the basics of drafting a press release, the way to write news headlines and the methods of news coverage.

 

The concepts discussed during the session were applied to models from previous issues of “Sawt Al-Amal” (Voice of Hope) newspaper, where Dr. Akhrash expressed his admiration for the level of professionalism and expertise of “Sawt Al-Amal” (Voice of Hope) releases, praising the performance of the newspaper's editorial board, the level of participants' comprehension of the session, confirming that it achieved its objectives as required.

 

For his part, Abdul-Aziz Oudah, head of media department at Yemen Information Center (YIC), stressed on the importance of continuous training for the center's journalists to stay updated with everything new in the world of journalism and which reflect positively on the performance of the “Sawt Al-Amal” (Voice of Hope) editorial staff through the materials covered in the newspaper.

 

Meanwhile, Arwad Al-Khateeb, head of programs management, said that the department emphasizes on the necessity of rehabilitating the center's staff in all the fields, and that this session comes within the department's action program, which includes a number of training sessions, workshops and seminars during the coming period.

The participants expressed their satisfaction from the three-day training session, which included a number of training and interactive activities.

At the end of the session, the participants were honored and certificates of participation  were distributed to the trainees.
